Ava Rocha is a Brazilian singer, songwriter and filmmaker. Daughter of two powerhouse filmmakers in Brazil, cinema has been in the Rio-born singer’s blood since she was a child. A leading figure in Brazil’s post-Tropicalia movement, along with her husband, Negro Leo, whom she often creates music with, she’s been turning the meaning of Brazilian pop on its head. Expanding on the foundation of the movement – an aim at universalizing and modernizing the language of Brazilian pop music, incorporating elements from world youth music such as Afro and Amazonian grooves as well as rock, psychedelia and electric guitar - Ava Rocha goes above and beyond. Embedding elements of Asian, Middle Eastern, and Latin American music with high doses of experimentalism, all colliding and fusing together with rock n' roll, funk, soul and Bossa-Nova vibes, the result is something challenging, something to embrace and something wholly original. A true creator in avant-garde art that never excludes the listener but instead introduces them to a completely new ocean of possibilities.

Bound in contrast and contradictions, Absolute Purity pairs fierce desperation against melancholy and innocence. The band was formed in December 2016 by singer Wen Jun (ex-Guai Li), guitarist Tang Ting, drummer Zhang Yun and bassist Dami, each bringing their own musical direction. Drawing on experimental, post-punk, electronic music and psychedelia, their sound spans the aggressive, melodic and pure, going between the everyday mundane and unhinged madness.

Contemplative and melancholy, all-girl DREAM CAN pushes forward with purpose and innovation. The band plays tight, unusually for a band only together for about four years now. Psychedelic in the style of Acid Mother Temple, original and complex like Ringo Shina, and with the darker tone of Joy division, their influences shine through in their music. 33EMYBW is a Shanghai-based artist with a penchant for peculiar, unsettling sounds. Many of their self-released tracks, such as “EMSYGYDL”, feature spurts of alien timbres, distorted vocal samples, and light, lilting rhythms. In 2017, 33EMYBW also shared a three-track release entitled MEDUSA. It opens with broken, club-oriented rhythms accompanied with peculiar vocal processing in “RANA”. The second track, “YAMA”, features driven, distorted percussion and experiments across the stereo field, whilst title track, “MEDUSA,” takes this fragmentation further, skipping nimbly across percussion and synth stabs. A dynamic artist working across various media, 33EMYBW has developed a distinct aesthetic rooted in a fascination with insects, aliens, and other creatures. 33EMYBW is a part of Shanghai-based band Duck Fight Goose, and also founded The Centaurs alongside GOOOOOSE. The Centaurs is a series of events in Shanghai promoting left-field electronic music as well as hosting workshops in music production, modular synthesis, and DIY software and hardware instruments.

GOOOOOSE is the side project of Han Han, front man of one of China’s most well-known experimental- rock/electronica band “Duck Fight Goose” and also owner of the experimental record label Miniless Recordings. His multi- instrumental approach of making music usually leads the audience into a place where ambient soundscape, heavily synthesized texture and syncopated rhythms find their harmony, yet still fighting with each other sometimes. Apart from making music, Han Han is also a visual artist and software developer. GOOOOOSE is more like a spiritual cave of Han Han, he currently lives in Shanghai. There are 5 Os. Since 2012, Han Han started to perform in various venues in Germany, Switzerland, Denmark, Finland, Norway, Estonia, France and United States, including Haus der Kulturen der Welt and CTM festival in Berlin, Cite De La Musique in Paris and SXSW festival in Austin. As a music producer/composer/Audio-Visual artist, he also participated several art projects since 2017, such as a full audio-visual live performance for Zhang Ding’sworkVortex, composingmusicpiecesfor Andrey Boleslavsky’s VR works at CAC art center, Designer Zhang Da (Boundless), Wang Hao Min (Zuczug, WHM)’s 2018 spring fashion show(original music for full show). He also produced indie band Late Trouble’s first album. In the same year, he released debut full length album “They” and received positive reviews from several places including Japanese media “Music Magazine”. At the beginning of 2018, Han Han was invited to CTM festival in Berlin to perform. He will release several new EPs under D-force Beijing, NLS records from London/Hongkong and Ante-Rasa from Belgium. His artwork “THEY 2.0” was also exhibited in Goethe Institute in Beijing 798 from September 1st to October 14th in 2018.
